Ways to get involved.

Volunteers Make Guiding Happen – Have Fun and Make a Difference!

Girlguiding in Lincolnshire North couldn’t happen without our amazing volunteers. There are lots of ways to help, and we welcome people from all backgrounds, cultures, faiths and abilities. Volunteering can be flexible, so it can fit around a busy lifestyle.

Maybe you have skills to share, or you want to learn new ones—we can help with that too. Volunteers get training, support, and the chance to meet new people, have fun, travel, make memories, and celebrate achievements.

It’s very important that all girls and young women are safe from harm. That’s why all leaders get Safer Guiding Training.

All volunteers go through a recruitment process, which includes references. Anyone working regularly with girls must have a criminal record check (DBS).

Unit Leaders and Assistant Leaders

Every Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Senior Section unit has at least one Leader who has completed the Leader Development Program. Leaders plan activities with the girls and look after records and finances. Teams often share the work. Assistant Leaders help the Leaders and support the girls.

Unit Helpers and Occasional Helpers

Helpers are important for keeping units running. You can help on a rota, or just whenever you can, giving Leaders an extra pair of hands. You can volunteer as much or as little as you like.

Support Roles

If you can’t volunteer regularly, there are still lots of ways to help from home or on your own time. You could:

  • Help with accounts or admin
  • Drive for an adventure away day
  • Work at a Girlguiding volunteer shop
  • Help with fundraising for trips
  • Do DIY at a meeting place
  • Lead a one-off session teaching girls skills, like judo, gardening, or anything that helps them earn a badge

To get started, register your interest with us. We’ll arrange a chat with a volunteer in your area and find the role that suits you.
